- Digestive tonic (stomachic, carminative, antiemetic)
- Antispasmodic
- Rubefacient - increases redness on the skin and circulation of the blood
- It is a germicide and antiseptic so it disinfects internal organs (especially the kidneys, skin, liver, and bronchi).

- Internally for digestive problems such as nausea, vomiting, flatulence, colic, indigestion
- Externally - rheumatism, neuralgia, toothache
